Yes Virginia, No virginia.

This is a song
but i need you to close your eyes.
Sometimes you make everything
make sense when it doesn't need to be.

So as i said,
This is a song
from the last of the small-town musicians.
I give you my heart in my hands,
take it.
but you leave none.

Pieces of me,
You and I,
will always be unfinished business.

Well hello.

Today during class, i drafted out my letter to Santa Claus. Which resulted in a lot of laughing from me and mozzie. We got our first term 3 indirect-scolding from Ms Chua! Ah how i miss it.

Anyway don't ask me why I'm drafting out the letter to Santa in July. The Christmas spirit is alive! Mozzie says she's never really celebrated Christmas before and I was beyond shocked. Thus, it is our job to introduce her to the traditions of Santa-letter-writing and presents and too much honey-baked ham.

So here's the letter.

Dearest Santa,

Greetings from Singapore! This year, I'm writing with two other great friends of mine, Yiwen and Amethyst (but you can just call us the three musketeers). Its a bit mad to be drafting a letter in July, but I think Yiwen needs alot of practise. Thus, the necessity to start teaching the art of Christmas letter-writing starts now!

Of course, we have been marvellously good girls this year(Well, so far. Six months is an awfully long time), which i understand is some minimal criteria we must meet in order to um, ask gracefully for gifts. I sincerely hope that instead of merely sending a computer-generated letter back from the North Pole, we actually get what we ask for.

We ask for good promotional grades (okay so maybe we're a bit old for this. But whatever.) so we can all spend another year cramming our face off next year together and graduate into successful lives, whatever that means. Of course, in the name of good morals, we wish for world peace, an end to all civil unrest in Israel and here's to no more world hunger.

Oh. It wouldn't hurt to throw in a billion dollars. Of course being the experienced and frequent letter writer that i am, i get the 50% cut, yes?

Anyway, have a pleasant July-December!

Love,
Athos, Porthos and Aramis

SNAZZY, yes?

So Tiara might have H1N1 and i hugged her yesterday and we also agreed to get married/merit but that is another matter altogether. YAY! Matthias, a J2 counsellor also got it, so CJC is officially infected.

All i can say is: ABOUT TIME.

Chinese orals was pleeeeh. Although i HAVE to thank my cube sister for being such an awesome chinese tutor. You have trained me to reasonable standard my friend.

Now, off to listen to some Jamie T and Coldplay's Prospekt's March (thanks to Mr. Nick Glascow for supplying the EP). I have to call Claudia.

Plastic Hearts (No not BLG but DPTs :D)

He left me in bedspreads
Tell me how I'm supposed to go on,
Sparse bedsides,
and a hole in my heart.
Still i dream in heist.

Currently inspired by my well-thumbed copy of Sunshine (Robin Mckinley) and a re-reading of Audrey Niffenegger's 'Time Traveller's Wife'.

I'm in love with Constantine and Henry Detamble respectfully, though they are rather bad choices as the resident heroine's love interest. Since one is a vampire whose skin is (apparently) the colour of old mushrooms and quite ugly, and the other time travels unpredictably. No matter. As if my boring life will ever come across such exciting instances.

After exam period has been heavy with a myraid of expensive dinners at expensive places, late-night simpang bedok suppers and waaay too many music practices.

So Jen-fer came up with this brilliant idea of recording an EP encompassing some christian, secular and jazz numbers to put into NLCC's decade-old time capsule (That is another story altogether but we've got time. Apparently we buried a time capsule in Pastor William's backyard in 1999 with all sorts of crap innit that i cant remember and we're opening it up for 20th year anniversary. And so we have to put in new stuff. Thus, the record to signify the birth of the youth band and the years of change :D Symbolic, i know.) The adrenaline rush has been crazy.

Eventually it boiled down to a remix of break free which sounds pretty darn awesome, i must say, this beatles song 'With a little help from my friends' and a self-written jazz piece that is yet to be named! Quite exciting.

Although we shouldn't be taking too many pictures during practise and actually, you know. PRACTISE.

Nick straddling two guitars while i operate the camera, Jen having a bug-eyed moment and lucy - well i don't know what lucy's doing.

whooo cool shot blocked by someone's hand. phfft.

not-so-cool.

we were trying to give the image of 'casual walking' but it didnt work.
Pathetic, yes.

Today was the first official day of school and it sucked. So much work and i'm like 'are you kidding'.

Me: Yiwen you look so different today! you look hawwwt *winks
Amy: Uh huh totally! did you cut your hair?
Yiwen: Oh thanks! But i didnt change anything!
Amy: Oh well you look nice.
Yiwen: OH. I CHANGED MY SHAMPOO.

Love the three musketeers. D'artagan ftw.
Tomorrow is Chinese Orals and i don't feel quite sane. Missed dinner to go home and 'cram' for A-levels and of course i didn't. Well i probably should feel motivated by the promise of my useless chinese mentor C2 treating me to sushi if i pass, but AH HECK.

Playlist of the week include some of the Indigo Girls (power of two), Anberlin (Amsterdam) and some old Flaming Lips numbers. And of course, Michael Jackson.

Midnight! Someone screwed up my internal clock. Goodnight all!

Big hearts, big hearts are for breaking

Love's too easy
so we make it into a game.

Fling your affections out
of the window now,
sell your heart on street corners,
You know what they say.
Big hearts,
yes your big heart
is for breaking.

i should really have joined the circus.

Let's see. No talent in studying, nada attention span and who am i kidding about how awesome i am in math? Besides, you get free bicycle rides in circuses. Lest free rides balancing a plate on a stick on your teeth.

Ramble!

TIS' THE NEW MONTH! (here's some old news.)

1. Obviously ya'll know about the MOE not extending school holidays. After all the hype with the eastsiders at starbucks the other day, was gobsmacked upon hearing the news on telly. HELLO, is the 200+ new cases not big enough a clue that something else must be done besides temperature taking?

2. Was literally dying the day before literature papers, and went to claud's place in desperate need of good music and rest. What can i say? 'I get by with a little help from my friends' - The Beatles. Thanks Clauds!

3. Unfortunately, that was also the day wherein Tiara texted to tell me that Michael Jackson had passed. He was one of those guys who everyone thought would live forever (and of all the things to die off.) So in tribute to the greatest pop icon who ever lived (in this generation, as least), my family and I spent two hours watching old music videos and docummentaries of him. Which resulted in my addiction to songs like 'Smooth criminal' and 'The way you make me feel'.

R.I.P MJ!

4. Toiling in my own jealousy (brownie points for those who get W.I.L reference!) the whole of last weekend cause Sarah G. got to go all the way London to catch the Kooks and Kings of Leon live in Hyde Park. The taunting text DID NOT help

5. Our social in Botanic Gardens (last last week?!) playing frisbee and captain's ball. Needless to say, the girls sat at the sidelines and the boys played. And the girls who did play (the cool ones like faith and i) never got the frisbee/ball. Le sigh. It always ends like this!

6. Watched the Green Mile. EPIC MOVIE. John Coffey is tres adorable. and so is mr. Jingles!

7. Went to a flea market with Jen-fer (TWAAAAT) on saturday after the literature paper, going to P.S. with no idea where it was. Two people with bad sense of direction should not trust another person's words about non-existant shuttle buses. Anyhoos, after half-an-hour of trampling around Old School, discovered the place.

It was like. bleh. Alot of the stores were mass-ordered/produced from HK or Taiwan or goodness knows where. The whole warehouse (effing hot and mind you, i was in uniform) resembled a compact version of Bugis Street.

Tell me, what happened to the Elvis Costello and Goo Goo Dolls records? Beat-up Taylor Acoustics and penny-bracelets? Gone. The orange and black vespas outside were the only interesting things :D

Met Clare and a bunch of old Sacians. Clare was relegated to maid of the day and was commanded to buy food for the rest of the store-owners, so we three HIKED down Mt. Sophia where aunt carol picked us up for music practise.

A day of short-fueled-tempers and not-so-surprising-birthday-cakes.

8. Lunch at 'A pinch of salt'!

'Frankly, i prefer pepper.' - Alexis

The food sucked. Fun company. Beatrice had beat-rice (risotto). NO ONE HEARD MY HILARIOUS JOKE.

Need a good picture with bex soon! She's leaving tomorrow (phhhooo you. and the day before my exams, they have dinner together. what is this?!)

9. MATH PAPER = joke + utter depression.

Laugh or cry? You decide

10. We are going to Genting! We are going to start basking!

Luki came up with all the weird ideas of where to go at the end of the year and we downgraded from japan to genting (FOR NOW.) Being mature and independent youths, the idea is to get the moolah needed from the one thing we actually like to do: music!

I am looking forward to it :D The electric prunes/Key-of-H/Homeschooled makes our debut!

It is late and i need to wake up early to cram linguistics tomorrow. Goodnight all!

Why Georgia, why?

I can't place it,
this face I'm seeing in my dreams,
It stands out in the crowd,
No, he is the crowd
A throng of sweat and passion
in its own right.

I know we haven't met yet,
Still it seems we've got it right,
Something's going strong,
No, something's going wrong
Cause he walks past
And still I can't place the face
I see in these dreams.

Walk away,
invisible footprints on the sidewalk,
This I will remember

Well said, Joel. I believe he was talking about the holidays, just as the end of the hols for us rapidly approaches. And that ushers in the start of the REAL mid-terms.

Oh holy guacamole.

Someone please contract really really bad swine flu so we have an extra week of holidays please THANKS

When one reaches a stage of being so unprepared, it gets kinda funny. Although i really shouldn't get too comfortable being the queen of slackerdom. Thus the inaugural study session tomorrow at a certain starbucks with the CJC eastsiders (whooo hello sisters.) wherein they will attempt to help me with math! Good luck to them.

Boyyy i really want to spend a whole week at somewhere like Claud's or Lizzeh's. It is really like entering a whole other dimension of craziness, and the absence of studying helps a ton.

Sigheth. Back to the books, everyone.

She's a teenage maniac with her heart out on the dancefloor!

Hide behind his quirks now,
I told the world
that the Sun rose for you today.
I inked it across
The bedroom walls,
All this for an ordinary boy.

Shiver under winter shadows,
I told the world
that the stars shone for you today.
So i lay beside you
and heard you breathe,
All this for an ordinary boy.

So i struggle with the poetry sometimes,
But i hope you know there is
Love in purple markers
and warm blankets,
I hope you know.

Well hello everyone.

I ought to apologize for the long post-less lull but i shan't because of the mind-blasting things that have been going on. And yes, mind-blasting, not blowing. BLASTING.

Church Camp was wicked fun :D Finally an opportunity to let loose a little. Because foooools like Jen refuses to upload pictures on Facebook, these are the snapshots i managed to collate from a various number of people. Credits to Kor James, Uncle Fangwei and Kor Swee Cheng!

Started on 6th June. Not-so-good-flight, check-in at Courtyard Hotel, mooching around One Borneo Mall and first of many seafood dinners at the Restaurant.

Our hotel room was hella far away. Took us about ten minutes to find it, with all the lugging of cases, hiking bags and packs. Not to mention Jennifer's sense of direction isn't all that great either!

Watched 17 again AGAIN (YES THEY WERE SHOWING IT.) and with ticket prices at 9RM, who gives a crap.

Island Hopping/Scuba Diving and meaningless jumpshots!

Rachel is just too tall for her own good!

One of Jennifer's mid-laugh moments.

The Lees love their tree-climbing. Although i'm surprised the branches didn't snap off with Nick standing on them

Volleyball = we failll

Stella becomes the new victim for sand-burying and the practise of giving me fake boobies has been hereby abolished.

Beach games! Which was awesome stuff wherein our team (TEAM INFLAMMARE RAWR. though megan and I firmly supported the 'Set Lunch' name) got to showcase our skills.

Some bucket game which we thought we won but we losssttt.

One of the gazillion team meeting we had to put together a cheer/item.
It was actually, kinda fun :D

Mount KK Climb

Alex(is)' famous words 'One word. Never again.'

Wow. and this conversation we had the entire trip to Sabah is probably worth mentioning

Me: You twaaaat!
Alex: I am one, you have one!
*Both of us laughs.

Got to love that quote.
Back to the pictures!

Laban Rata resthouse at 11,000 feet where we stayed to rest our sobbing tootsies and to stuff our faces for the long and ardous climb to the summit.

Woke up at 1am the next day and took off for the summit at 2:30am to watch the sunrise. Although it was only 2km distance up, it was torturous. With the kind of inclined plane we were trekking up, there were times where we had to rely on merely the rope to pull ourselves up, with huge bags on our back.

But the view was worth it. (i think) *Miley Cyrus The Climb song starts to play now.
Yelch.

Reflection of the sun rays of the lower part of the mountain caused this awesome awesome effects which lasted for almost an hour.

Really beautiful!

Can you believe the summit's name was christened 'Lows Peak'?! How absolutely degrading. Highest mountain in SEA, mind you.

Donkey's Ears, one of the four peaks visible from Laban Rata

Uncle Fang Wei with that look of agony is just hilarious.

Climbing down was twice as hard compared to going up! Really. After the five hour hike down, everyone in the van was totally knocked out. Two Lee siblings on either shoulder couldn't even keep me awake, and that speaks volumes! Crashed when we got to the hotel.

More pictures will be up when i get the opportunity!

Rest of the days were spent watching movies both at Luki's room and at the theater (must take advantage of the cheap prices!). Also eating a hell lot of good food. Shopping was a must :D F.O.S is the shizzle.

So that was 6th to 13th June.

Had sore knees (so bad that i couldn't tie my laces for three days) and fatigue, so that served as an excuse NOT to study for the next few days. And then all the activities started to roll in.

Sentosa trip with 4.8ers sometime this week, which turned out to be a blast. Projects in the evening killed the fun, although Maxxie was thoroughly entertaining (dude, where's my fries?!)

Rachelle disturbing my nap time.

OH MY.

phwoaaar. who said i had a big tushy?!

Whoops. First attempt fail due to flaw at the background.

Much better!
Scaled the huge sculpture to take pictures.

And had a problem coming down later. haha!!

Met up with Marilyn, Sharon and Nas to catch up and watch a couple of movies. Drag Me to Hell was terrible. Absolute rubbish. We were screaming throughout the whole show. Natasha managed to figure out that it was the coin right from the beginning instead of the button because she's a genius like that!

Decided to watch Hannah Montana Movie because DMTH made us lose our appetites (How many times can an old woman hurl in one movie?!) and it turned out to be pretty darn GOOD. I say this only because of

a) Rascal Flatts having a cameo, and the lead holding MY Gibson Jumbo Hummingbird with the engraved fingerplate
b) Taylor Swift performing while holding a baby taylor. How cliche.
c) LUCAS TILL. hubba hubba.
d) The shoe-fight scene. Tyra Banks srsly kicked some cyrus ass there!

Besides all that, i nearly died when she sang 'The Climb' and when she and Travis (Mr Till) sucked face. Urgggh.

Also made the stupid decision of going to Escape Theme Park with the non-east-siders. Discovered that Nicholas is an absolute ninny since he was screaming and making Alex protect him half the time instead of leading the girls like he's supposed to. Mark Lee and Mark Tang were srsly brave there man!

In the end we stopped for so long because of the fog that some guy had to walk in and guide us through. We r losers.

Viking ship almost made Bex hurl. You shoulda seen her face, it cracked me up!

Bible Study yesterday ended up with Supper at the Crispy Roti Prata place at Thompson which made mom a bit angry when i stepped in a midnight.

Today we spent three hours practising for tomorrow's P&W session and it almost killed me! Plus throwing around a frisbee (actually only the boys threw) and tossing the ball (actually only the boys tossed). I hit Faith in the face BWAHAHAHA sorry girl. We had fun being crazy! YIEC stands for Yay I Eat Cake.

Had a minor panic attack just now when i relised how much study i actually have to do before literature papers the coming Saturday. I am in deep deeeep crap. Thus the double study sessions with the CJC east-siders on Monday and Tuesday. God please help me.

Goodnight all.
Remember to eat your crazy pills for tomorrowwww!

See him as a carbon atom

So we are past witching hour (That's 3am mind you, folks-who-don't-know) and i'm still wide awake. Must be the cookies and coke, which is always a brilliant combination by the way, when watching the movie. Angels and Demons, tres fantastic.

I love Ewan Mcgregor. Yes I do.

Currently having a conversation about nothing and talking bullpoopy online with various crazy people. Like Elbow Toe. Pure genius.

Speaking of crazy people(ha!), Amanda texted something to me in French and I don't have a teeny clue what its bout. Someone decipher this for me: 'Merci beaucoup! Bon chance avec toi livres?'

Mind you, what i said before that was: 'Have a wicked time in Paris and remember to watch Skins!'

Le sigh. How i wish i could speak the language of (as Cal calls it) the baguette-people.

Here's to late-night ramblings! and our best friends.
